Water Education classes are for babies, toddlers and parents.
These classes are designed to encourage water confidence and safety. Through repetitive games, our babies and toddlers will aim to develop their flotation, balance, breath control, simple kicking and paddling, while having fun.
Safety is a very important factor for our babies/toddlers and our classes focus on this with your assistance.
Water Education is divided into three levels and each level has a quota to enable us to keep the groups small and personal.
What can I expect in a lesson?
It will be your baby’s first taste of fun in a class situation. Babies are taken by an adult (mum, dad, caregiver, grandparent, etc.) singing songs, floating on mats, you’re taught how to hold your baby and how to introduce them to water on their heads and bobbing under water. You’re also taught how to encourage them to start kicking.
What if my child cries?
Each baby is an individual and they all react to situations differently. The best thing to do is stay calm and reassure your baby, find a toy to play with or sing a song and when they have settled, rejoin the group. Remember, this is a totally new experience for the baby with all the noise and activities happening around them and it may take a couple of weeks for them to settle in. Let them progress at their own pace, it will be worth it in the end.
What your swimmer needs to bring to class?
A Little Swimmers Nappy is compulsory, a good fitting garment over, towel and whatever Mum or Dad feels comfortable in, in the water.
